I'm looking forward to catching up. I thought Sarah Price and Harris Bugg's gardens looked very good. I like that the style of planting has become looser recently.

@alfharris8 commented before about some of the gardens being a bit too much about 'the story' and I agree with that. I like a story, but for me, you should be able to appreciate the garden without having to read some kind of designer's statement.

Lovely @punkdoc . I'll try to remember to look out for it if I'm unfortunate enough to have to go there (sadly likely with ageing parents in Sheffield).

I watched the preview show and it just confirmed the impression I get every year that it's a huge waste of money and a lot of environmental impact for temporary make belief nonsense. If they really wanted to make a charity garden then bloody install it at the final venue and spare the planet the idiocy of putting them on a Chelsea car park first. The RHS keep pretending that it's more sustainable but this show only exists to fill their coffers while making a few rich sponsors feel special for a week. The whole reverence some treated with is so bizarre to me. How much enjoyment can be had by glancing from a distance down an avenue while feeling like being stuck in the M25? A fair where growers can show their plants and sell to the visitors appeals much more to me, which is the kind of fairs I grew up with in Athens. No vanity, no massive budgets, not much upheaval just plants and curiosity.

Agree entirely , couldn't have put it better myself ; then there's the 'privilege' of forking out £115-00 per head in entrance fee......what a joke !

I went to the show once when I was at college, and slipped away for most of the day because the crowds were too much for me. And the humidity of the marquees. (I went to Chelsea Physic Garden round the corner). You can't really see the gardens that well from the edge, even when you can squeeze past all the other onlookers. I'd rather watch it all on telly, with lovely slow motion crane shots from inside the garden etc!

We went to Chelsea in 2012 ; first and last time , too hot , too crowded and too noisy and too bloody expensive .
    Not at all impressed !
Loxley , I vividly remember the noise inside the Grand Pavilion ; reminded me of feeding time at the zoo !

Watched to shows today, and tonight they said introducing the new varieties.  What happened to the new rose of DA, not a mention. 🤔

I've been to Chelsea twice, and loved it.  Staying relatively nearby in a hostel in London, and getting up very early, enabled me to be one of the first in the queue to get in, so I could see the gardens before it got too crowded - essential since I'm under 5ft tall.  People-watching was entertaining as well...

Now I live in Ireland I doubt if I'll go again.  I shall be visiting "Bloom", which is Dublin's flower and food show, at the beginning of June, instead.  Should be interesting, anyway.   :)
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

@Paul B3 You have been and hated Chelsea. I would welcome the chance to go. The chances to do special things in life can suddenly stop. Make the most of every opportunity with positivity.... for others who don't have that chance.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
