Pussy willow pruning help

Hi all - Inherited this massive hedge with our house (Goat willow?!) and want to drastically prune it back which as you can see I’ve just started (it was dense leaves a few minutes ago) It’s currently around 5m tall and I want to take at least a meter off the top and sides. I’ve lost the nerve at the start though because it’s going to leave almost no leaves, and am worried this is too aggressive and will kill it. Anyone know if I’m ok to continue and need to hold my nerve or should I be approaching this in stages?

    You’ll be hard pushed to kill a goat willow by pruning if it’s happy in other respects. Take it back as hard as you want to … then a bit harder. Make sure it doesn’t dry out this summer and it’ll be back up there in no time. I’d probably coppice it down to a stool … and then stand well back… 😲
