Pinching out cosmos

If a plant is plenty big enough to plant out 6x4" and produces a flower bud, does that mean you don't need to pinch it out?

You will get branching and far more flower stems, if you pinch out.

Thank you @punkdoc. It's awful tempting to have a look  at the flower, though😏

Have you got more than one plant @B3?  You could try leaving one and pinching out another to see how they fare.  I have always pinched mine out after the first two sets of leaves and they do get a much better shape and produce more flowers.  You won't have to wait too long, they respond very quickly!

I've pinched them now. I'll have to be patient.
