What stone might this be?

It is a very heavy slab that we use as a table surface in the corner of a right angled  seating area. I've cleaned the surface but some of the dirt seems to have got under the surface
It would be good to know what it is so that we can see if it's  possible  to brighten it up.
I assume it's some sort of composite

Is it heavy,  could be rough granite.

Thanks @Lyn . That or quartz, I was thinking.. Is quartz lighter? The slab  really heavy.

Quartz is 'quite' heavy, but not as heavy as granite. It doesn't really look like the way quartz grows.

That’s lichen in the little pockets, it should pick out or use a wire brush.

Can you get a picture of the stone’s edge rather than it’s flat.

Those dark bits are goldy brown bits of the stone. Will go and get a photo now @Lyn

Not much use, I'm  afraid.  The chap who gave it to us was kind enough to smooth it all down.
I've included another pic to show the coppery bits more clearly

I can see they’re not bits of lichen in your last picture,  OH says it’s granite and the red bits are impurities.
He doesn’t know where it came from but it’s not Cornish or Dartmoor.

Thanks very much and to your OH too. If only all impurities were as pretty @Lyn

I'd imagine a pH neutral granite cleaner is what you'd need and a nail brush.
Looks a lovely bit of stone!
