cherry tree

Hi,
i have a cherry tree and the last three years the yeild has been amazing, ive cared for it carefully as it belonged to my parents who have passed now. it sort of feels part of them.
so, this year, its had a full bloom of blossoms - it looked lovely - but for some reason there seems to be no leaves. There are some but im confused as to why as normally the tree is full of leaves.
will it still grow fruit?  is it a cyclical thing that can often happen ie. every three years or so therell be nothing? im at a loss.
thanks in advance.

Hello @gislaine1 and welcome to the forum 😊 cherries usually produce their blossom before the leaves. Can you see leaf buds on the branches?
Could we see a photo or two please?

My young cherry leaves have been decimated by pigeons for the last couple of years.  They now look ghostly in their white bags. I'm wondering how many years they'll need to be protected thus... Could your leaves have been chomped?

Pigeons have taken new leaves off the cherries, plums and gages for the last 3 years. They (apart from the gages) have though come through with new growth and produced a good harvest....well the other birds do tend to take most of the cherries. We have tried all sorts to distract them but nothing works. The trees are too big to net so we have to share.
