I've bought A LOT from Sarah Raven this year, partly because she has a lot of things I like and partly because more often than not there's some form of discount code. Your order will usually come with one and the magazine always has one. It also helps to Google as well to see what comes up. Found one earlier this year for 25% off with free postage and I even managed to use it three times! It was awesome 😁 I did have a problem a few weeks back with some phlox jumbo plugs. They hadn't packed them securely and by the time Yodel had bashed them about, they weren't in the best state. I contacted them and they immediately sent out some more. Yodel bashed them about AGAIN but as they'd been more securely packaged this time the plants weren't damaged. Definitely a big Sarah Raven fan.
I ordered a lot of plants this year to replace winter losses. All arrived on time, in separate batches and well packed. They have grown on well too, so it’s a thumbs up here. Have used them in the past and not been too impressed but things have definitely improved.
I took a large delivery from them yesterday and have had others this year, and all fine. They had a glitch a while back but not enough to put me off (unlike Suttons. Last year they sent dead plant after dead plant, and too late to replace).
My only caveat is that one set of zinnias that arrived yesterday were miniscule. (The other set, as expected.) I would rather they had waited until they were bigger. I suspect they were behind. (Well, they *are* behind!)
@ObseesedPlantswoman I would contact them as long as you have proof of your order. A company with their reputation should be interested in failures to improve their business.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
I recently received some chantilly snapdragons, red velour petunias and regal pelargoniums from SR. All arrived in great condition and so far I’ve not lost any of the rooted cuttings / jumbo seedlings. Fingers crossed they all flower well. 🌺
I love Sarah Raven and use the company all the time. They have a pretty unique selection and trial a great many new varieties of plants - introducing them to the UK and beyond.
I find SR hideously expensive compared to other outlets, so I would never use it unless there was a serious discount and/or it was something I couldn't get elsewhere which would be very rare. I did buy some wallflower plugs a few years ago for that reason. They've been ok, but I'd strongly dispute the advice that they do well in pots
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
