A conifer of some kind -possibly one of the thujas.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Do you know what the 2nd plant picture is. The lady who originally owned the house was Japanese. I think the first picture is a Tamarix tetranda plant although it is now a 10ft tree. Many thanks.

Evergreen. From your pic, it could be anything.
