Hydrangea sizing advice please

Hello everyone.

I'd like to put a hydrangea limelight in the space indicated here. I've seen them for sale in 2L pots, would it be best to get one and fill the space with annuals, I'm not sure how quickly they grow? Thank you!

They'll take several years to reach maturity from that sort of size, but sizing is approximate as it depends enormously on your conditions and climate as to how quickly they grow.
The proximity of that tree could also be a factor in how well it thrives.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I think you’ll find that space is fine if you keep your plant to a suitable size.  I bought a much larger plant last year but it hadn’t been pruned properly.  I reshaped it and cut it down to about 2 foot high earlier this year.  The more robust framework should give support to the flowers at a better height as I don’t want it too tall.  You’ve chosen an excellent plant to add to your lovely garden @Purpleandpinks!
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.
