Bay Tree care

We will need to move with our bay tree next year. It has been in current position for a number of years without much care and attention. I would appreciate some help on the following points:
1. What would be the best approach for a tidy up?
2. Would it be possible to use dome of the excess to grow new plants?

First decide what shape you want.  Then plan how to get there.

If you are moving it, possibly a good idea to get it ready.  Dig it up now before the weather gets too hot and dry and the bay starts to grow.  Prune the top a bit.  prune the rots a bit.  Replant with minimum disturbance.  Keep well watered.
location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand.
