Old onions

We didn't use up all last years bumper onion crop and actually forgot that there were still some in the garage. They have sprouted. Can we plant these out and get onions from them or just put them on the compost heap?
Many thanks as always.

Afraid it’s the compost heap for them. 🧅

@Dovefromabove Thank you and to the compost they go.
  • you could let them bolt and collect seed from them.

Stick them in a flower bed and enjoy the flowers. The bees certainly will.

I planted ours and they are about to flower. The flowers are lovely and enjoyed by insects. You can then pull them up and compost if you like or collect seed first.
