Yes - Thursdays here @GardenerSuze , although I don't always watch it then. If you were to buy loniceras in 6 inch pots, and prep the ground well - ie add some decent organic matter to boost the soil, then keep them well watered until winter, you'd find they'd be around a couple of feet in about 2 years. It takes any shrub or hedging a year to establish before it start growing properly.
They aren't fussy as to growing conditions - sun, shade or soil type. Against a wall in a sunny spot will always be drier, so good prep is very important. Don't skimp on that whatever you do. Funny how we're all different though - I like the wall. It's very similar to our walls round here However, I'm not sure why you're so keen to replace the pyracantha. It just needs pruned and probably a bit of water and mulching.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
