    It would have to be a persistent or severe frost, so I doubt it's that, unless it was growing undercover and suddenly put outside with acclimatising first. 
    I presume it didn't look like that when you bought it?
    They're more likely to get sun/wind damage at this time of year and through summer, especially in a n exposed site - which it looks like there.  It's why they can awkward to site correctly. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
