What is this hitchhiker?

I bought a honeysuckle and initially thought this was just some growth from the base, but I realised the leaves don’t match and upon further inspection it was a separate plant, I’ve removed it from the honeysuckle, but would be good to know what it is in case it’s some persistent weed that’s going to cause me trouble!!

@zugenie  I asked a similar question this week and got the same answer. I was advised to get rid asap and as it was well established my son didn't have an easy job getting rid and bent a garden spade in the process! Hopefully we have seen the last of it although I shall have to keep a watch as there are still some roots left behind.

If it will damage your honeysuckle getting it out, snip off all the branches and any time a bud forms on the trunk, rub it off. The plant will eventually give up and die.

@b3 I pulled it out before I planted the honeysuckle, hopefully the honeysuckle won’t mind too much! Thanks both!
