    I'm confident that it isn't crocosmia they have corms that form a string. However I am not completely sure what you have. It is very congested and I suspect alot of it is dead.
    @Fairygirl mentions it could very well be a keeper perhaps wait for developments?
    Was it covered over with weeds that could be why it has suffered. 
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

    Yes - different growth habit @GardenerSuze which is why I wondered if the growth was from the plant, or from nearby. It's hard to tell from the pic! Crocosmia can just run underground and pop up - especially if it's the common one -Montbretia. It's a real thug.

    I'd wait and see for a  little while anyway, unless your sister is scunnered looking at it and wants rid. I'm slightly inclined to be like that  ;)

    I'm laughing - they're playing the Wets' # Sweet Little Mystery on the radio just now  :D
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    @Fairygirl Yep think it remains a sweet mystery at least for now.
    Iv'e got the Austrian Eurovision song in my head driving me nuts!
