Shrub Identification Please

Hello. Does anyone know what these shrubs are please? A couple I know have moved in to a new build house. Along the front lawn is a big line of these real straggly looking shrubs. We'd like to work out exactly what they are so we can see about getting them in better shape. Many thanks.

Looks like a variety of Osmanthus, possibly Burkwoodii.  Mine has just finished flowering but the leaves look similar.
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

I'd agree. Mine has just finished too, did better this year than most years. The mild weather early in the year possibly helped.  :)
How you prune/maintain it will depend on what else is around it - there looks as if there's other stuff growing through it, but hard to tell from the pic.
They're best in shadier, damper areas.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • That's definitely it, thank you.
