Advice sought on new border

Hi all

this year I created a new border approximately 4m length x 600mm width and 600mm depth and planted the following:

standard hydrangea limelight
2 bay trees
salvia
cosmos white
pink and white dahlias (just emerging)
sweet peas
verbena bonisaris
eschscholzia
zinhia
poppy (black swan)
lupins

I expect that’s enough as although it looks bare currently that everything will begin to bulk out and fill the border?

Apologies but the image seems to have rotated 90 degrees

Any tips and advice would be useful and also any design advice as I am trying to get some height and texture to the border

thank you

There's a glitch re photos - it's been there for years and it looks like it'll never be fixed. If you keep photos smaller it helps  :)
You've not mentioned the aspect of the border, or your climate, but many of those plants have different requirements from each other. You also haven't said what you filled it with - it needs to be soil based, not compost.  :)
I'd say you have far too many plants for that small border too, although many are annuals so that's less of a problem.
The 4 standards [I presume there's two hydrangeas?] might have been better spaced out along the length, but there isn't much room for them to spread, so you'll be doing a lot of pruning in future. They'll cast more shade too, so any planting along the edges/front, will need to be suitable for that, otherwise plants will lean towards the light and become leggy. Many of the ones you have like a fair bit of sun to do well.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
