It's pear rust and there's not much you can do about it.
Bordeaux Mixture was a treatment but it's been banned for some years now due to the copper content. It's not really unsafe as such, but it was used by pear growers as a preventative twice a year so it could get into the water system via runoff.

3 of mine have it this year - 1 is the worst I've seen it, but it usually doesn't do too much damage to the tree.

@Sam Jesson If you look at wikipedia for Leaf Curl or here
    https://www.rhs.org.uk/disease/peach-leaf-curl
I discovered today that our peach tree got the same in the last days.

    I my garden.

  • Get some anti-fungal powder, then if You can dig out pear tree with a fork as it's young it should come out, keep as much soil around the root when digging out to help the roots from breaking, after taking out the small tree give it a bang to loosen soil around roots, then fill a big enough container with water throw in the Anti/F power and mix, then put tree into this container of antifungal water and leave overnight, dig some anti- fungal into the hole where tree came out from, then next day replant pear tree and feed weekly with tomato feed, then enjoy your fruits when they arrive

    I agree with Pete.8, it's pear rust.

Our trees were affected by it for the past 10 years. At its worst the leaves would turn black with wart-like nodules.

As you may know, the fungal spores which causes this disease requires a winter host (mainly juniper conifers) and a summer host (mainly pear trees) to complete its life cycle.

Thanks to last year's heatwave all of the nearby junipers were killed off so there were no winter hosts which means, this year, there are no signs of rust on our trees.

Pear rust isn't the same as peach leaf curl - it's specific to pears (& juniper), just as peach leaf curl is specific to peaches.

As @Pete.8 says, there's not much you can do about it because there are no anti-fungal treatments available in UK (assuming that's where you're based, @Sam Jesson).  I imagine @kennnn22SmDW1m_ is in the US.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • Hi folks kennnn2SmDW1m_ here thank you for your help....NO I live in the UK on south Coast...when the flower open from the bud it looked ok but several weeks later I see my white petals starting to look like they had a rust of some sort showing on the white petals and wonder if I need to give the tree anything to help with this issue
  • Oh sorry I meant to say my rust problem if it is rust is on my young tree apple tree Golden Delicious from Tesco

The flowers are dying now and you should then see the tiny fruits starting to form when the petals have gone.
    It's completely normal :)
