Summer bedding 18" planters

Hi all, thanks so much for your help thus far, really appreciate it.
.big summer bedding hanging basket project today, I've got a great selection of plants, 12 18" baskets. I've done one and it has 13 plants in, 4 in the wires and 9 in the top. How many should I do? I thought 9-10 for this size but not sure if it includes side walls? Can you overdo it? I guess so.

I have trailing geraniums, fuschia, bacopa, petunia, begonias, videos, verbena, lobelia, nasturtiums, antirrhinum mix, upright fuschias and geraniums, osteospermum, ageratum and a few pots of nemesis and sufina and all sorts.
Got a good planter compost and each basket takes half a bag so my maths is correct.

Also plenty of tomorite. Should I water in with tomorite today? Or later down the line. Thanks

Thanks in advance.

  • Also, 20ml of tomorite to 4.5 lites, same ration for plants? So 40ml for a 10l watering can, maybe half a can per basket? Thanks

You don't need to feed the plants with Tomorite just yet as the compost you are using already contains plant food. There may be blurb on the packaging that tells you how long that should last but I'm sure there are hanging basket officionados who will be able to give you more accurate advice on that front.
I commend your ambition........that's a lot of baskets to look after.
