    I’ve not had any poppies around. 

    It’s near to fennel, euphorbia, VB….
  • I assumed the thin  "long" leaves were the cotyledons for the ferny foliage ( which is what made me think escholzia). is that right or are they separate entities? Will think but someone smarter than me is probably required.

    Yeah the ferny foliage and grass like foliage are the same plant. 

    Could it be baby fennel?

    It hard to tell the scale but I'm guessing they are tiny as they have the seed leaves, in which case it's likely fennel. You can gently rub the leaves and they smell like fennel.
