Should I stake a small acer

    Yes - I meant to say, the aspect will be fine just now. It's only a problem in late winter/early spring when foliage starts to appear and can be hit by frost/ice. I move mine to a site against the shed or similar, which helps.
    An open windy site is always harder too, as @Nanny Beach  says, but again - choosing a good site is something you can play around with while it's potted, especially if you don't have a site in the ground which suits. The finer leaved dissectums are always more vulnerable to that   :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Thanks @Fairygirl. I don't think our garden is particularly windy but i'll definitely keep it somewhere as sheltered as possible.
    I’ve no idea what I’m doing.
