Lycesteria Dead?

It seems this winter has been very tough on plants. Like a number of shrubs in my garden, all 3 of my lycesteria plants are looking very dead at the moment. Generally they die back a bit over winter and reshoot further back on the stem. but this year they look dead right to the base. Is it fair to say that they have snuffed it?

I’ve never seen one that dead looking before.

@WiltshireWild Hollow brown stems all over and it is dead. They do seem short lived so seedlings are well worth growing on . You may even find one or two elsewhere in the garden.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
