Butia Capitata… palm problem pics

hello
Can anyone diagnose? Our Butia Capitata has always been a little peaky but after the winter it’s been very crispy and dry even throughout the new growth. It’s doesn’t seem to have any mushy frost damage like all the cordylines.

Will it rally? Should I cut the dried fronds back- I can’t see any signs of new green growth.

I’ve been giving it ‘palm focus’ food for a few weeks in the hope of stirring it back to life but no response :(

anyone know?? Thanks :)

Is the growing point completely brown and dry?  If so, unfortunately the palm may not recover.  They are hardy down to minus 10, or lower, but won’t cope with waterlogging.  I wouldn’t give your plant any more food.  You could try removing all the dry browned leaves to see if this helps.  Probably best to use horticultural fleece or similar during freezing conditions to protect the growing point if you replace your plant.
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

Agree completely with the above ; can't quite make it out but check if the solitary apical
growing bud has been killed by frost . If damaged then there is no hope for your palm .
As Plantminded says above , hardy to around -10 to -12 for short periods , but only as  mature plants .
  • Oh that’s sad. Yep brown on growing points I’ll cut back the dead bits and see.
It’s been happy for a few years. This winter nailed several of my favourites :(

Thanks a million both for your advice. Much appreciated.
