@Martin Gardener Just wanted to say you have given alot of thought to that area of the garden. Some interesting and unusual colours, love the yellow a bold choice. You have considered the 'borrowed landscape' with your planting too. I am sure you will choose something that works well with your other plants, an opportunity to make a change always exciting.
Thanks! That area is north facing so mostly dark. The idea was to brighten it up. I actually wanted a yellow that is more tuscany yellow which is more pastel and less bright, so I may repaint it at some point
The inspiration for using a colour other than green on the wall came from an article the gardener Diarmuid Gavin had written. He was saying people always use green on walls to make them blend in, but he suggested using other colours. So that's what I did in various areas
@Martin Gardener Thankyou for sharing, I hoped we would see more. Don't change the yellow it is striking! Some leaves do change from a golden yellow to green as the season progresses. That is when you can high light with a splash of gold from flowers.
The darker tones calm things down the last photo aubergine? I have seen used before it works so well with so many plants as you show. Warmer countries and sunny blue skies are often insiration to use colour. Personally I think it is good to your own artistic skills and interpret it your way, which you have succsessfully done.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
It's surprising how a small change in site can affect any plant, even when we think everything's the same. Wind is just as much of a problem, if not more, as hot or dry conditions. Look on it as an opportunity for something new, and more suitable, in your pot, and just make sure your other one has the right care
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
