Feeding plants near a Grevillea

madpenguinmadpenguin Posts: 2,543
I have a Grevillea alpina 'Olympic Flame' and have just read that they must not be fed with phosphates (phosphorus).
I usually use farmyard manure or chicken pellets all around the garden but this can be toxic to Grevillea.
If I feed other plants in the border a little distance away would that have an effect?
Is there a no phosphorus feed I could use on the whole bed possibly.

    Just bumping the thread  :)
Does anyone grow Grevillea and how do they fare?

I used to grow Grevillea juniperina many years ago ; in all honesty I didn't notice any adverse side-effects even though I fed regularly with Miracle-Gro , (it was in a very large stone-pot) .
The shrub survived admirably until the Winter of 09/10 when it sadly succumbed .
Hope other members have more useful information . I'm not sure if I'm correct , but are seaweed based fertilisers low in Phosphorus ?

    Thanks Paul.
I am not a regular feeder of my plants but will see what low phosphorus feeds there are out there.
