Apple tree pruning

Is it too late to trim my apple tree? I neglected to do it over its dormant period and its now in full beautiful bloom. However last year some of its boughs were laden with fruit and with the scorching weather the branches were alarmingly bent over. This year I plan to thin the fruit more, especially as I always have more than needed, to help prevent any breakages.
Many thanks.

Enjoy the blooms and prune afterwards but don't go mad.

You could also leave it till later and do a summer prune.

In general, do a winter prune to encourage growth; do a summer prune to stop further growth (beyond the point where there is sufficient number of fruiting spurs).

I have done this in the past with no adverse effects. Tradesmen damaged my trees and I had to completely reshape them, in case you were wondering why I would do such a thing.

Take photos to record how the tree responds to the pruning as compared previous years.

many thanks pinut those are encouraging words. I’ll leave a trim till later in the summer, I’m keen to restrict growth so a summer prune seems the best option.
