Grown from seed 13 years ago - Paulownia Tomentosa tree
I was after a quick growing tree with exotic looks and the large leaves of the PT tree fitted the brief. Bought seeds off Ebay and out of 10 or so seeds 2 grew well. Sadly lost 1 tree to snow while it was young, but luckily this beautiful specimen has made it. I've never pruned the top, only the low branches. If anyone owns one and has pruned please tell me how they fared after pruning, how did you prune it, did it go multi stemmed when it grew the following year, how tall did you let it grow each year etc etc - thank you.
April 2023 while it's in bloom with lilac trumpet flowers on the ends of the branches

The bark is a beautiful texture and colour (supposed to be hollow in the middle)

As they are so high it's difficult to get a clear pic of the lilac trumpet flowers - this zoomed in pic doesn't do them justice:

I will post pics again when the leaves have grown to maturity as they are almost umbrella size!

I wish I could garden all year round!

Paulownia Tomentosa ....common name foxglove tree.
I left mine as a single trunk specimen tree. Grown in a sheltered Welsh valley we looked down on it.Your tree is now rather large , I would be afraid coppicing it to get the giant leaves (Zero flower) might kill it.
On www you may find articles saying it is invasive...this is only in USA. Here it is fine.

Thank you 😊 your tree looks amazing 👏
I get the large leaves every year once the flowers have done their time. I agree about drastic coppicing may cause more harm than good to a single stem tree this size.
When I grow my next one I'll coppice yearly to encourage side branches. Love the huge leaves.
