DEAD HEADING

Do I dead head Tulips the same as Daffodils, and leave the stark for 6 weeks, also is it the same for Irises. Appreciate your help in this.  Thanks

Yes. If you don't they form seed. You want to build the bulbs/corms up.  A liquid feed at this stage is always helpful.  Feed and water and keep in a sunny place until they die down naturally.

What kind of Irises? Do you mean the small ones- reticulata?
They often don't come back anyway, so it may not be worth doing anything with them. If they're in the ground, they often get dug up/eaten, or shrivel away if the soil's dry. In pots, you could do the same as @fidgetbones has said re feeding while they die back, and see if any return.  :)

Go to Holland and see what they do.  They let the rows of bulbs flower and then make a triage through the rows pulling out rogues and snapping off seedheads.

I guess they do that in the UK as well.

The Irises are the tall ones(bulbs), not flag Iris

There are lots of types of Iris - are they those Dutch iris [Hollandica] that florists use? If so, they don't really return either, unless you have the exact conditions for them.

It's too early for bearded ones, and even the ones which like damp conditions like ensata or sibiricas, wouldn't really get fed anyway, unless there was something very wrong with the conditions they were in.  You can certainly dead head them though.
