Large Banana Plant Stumps

I was given this banana plant last autumn so preceded to wrap it up to protect it over the winter. Luckily, it survived!  Two of the stumps were very tall, but the original owner said it fell over and they had to chop it up.

Can you please give me some advice on how best to go forward from here? Is it worth me saving the stumps, as I can see there are new plants starting to grow from underneath. Should we chop the whole pot into 3 and try and replant each piece? I don’t want to destroy all of them though?

Any advice would be gratefully received as I’m a big palm fan and was quite sad to have lost around 6 of my large plants in the winter. Many thanks!

I’m attached some pics. Not easy to see, but I covered them with mulch over the winter.

Monty Don always seems to be wrapping and unwrapping bananas and tree-ferns.  It seems a full time job.

  • Thanks Hostafan1. Do you think I should cut them apart and repot separately?

Thanks Hostafan1. Do you think I should cut them apart and repot separately?
    Personally, I wouldn't.
I'd get it planted in the ground.
