Palm type trees dying

Hi,
I suspect that this has happened due to our extremely cold winter. I know these aren't actual palm trees but not sure of their name.
I have two of them in my garden and the new leave/branches have gone brown and died. I looked at them again today and when I pulled on them, they came straight out, leaving a hole with water in it.

Just wondering, is there anything I can do to save them? Will new shoots appear from the hole?

Thanks

This is what it was like when it was healthy and this is what has now happened:

I'm afraid that once the apical growing bud has been destroyed like yours has , there is no hope of survival .

@bf91qbvbakS2B4 It looks similar to Chamaerops humilis - European Fan Palm - which is often sold in the UK but not always with the warning that they are not completely hardy in a UK climate. This last 12 months has not been kind to so many plants so perhaps not a surprise that yours has suffered.  At least if you know the type of palm you have , you can look up it up before you decide ( or not ) to replace it  :)

Your palm looks like a young Phoenix canariensis.  Unfortunately they will not survive being frozen.
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

When (or if) considering replacing your palm , think about Trachycarpus fortunei (the hardiest in the UK) ; has been known to tolerate -15C albeit for short periods .
