Tree Advice

Hello Gardeners World!
Looking to plant a row of trees to act as a wind break
We live in a very exposed site and can get some very strong winds
Slightly acidic and clay soil but well drained
Something fast growing, tall and strong ideally

Monterey Pines have been very effective here on the windswept North Norfolk coast https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Ruston_Old_Vicarage

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

It depends on whether you want the trees to thrive, and be an attractive sight in themselves, or whether you simply want them as the shelter belt for other planting.

Fast growing is always a contentious statement, because fast growing plants don't conveniently stop growing when you want them to, as many folk with leylandii hedging can testify  ;)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Hi @Fairygirl i would say it would be to be a bit of a distant back drop if that makes sense we have a small meadow then a newly planted hedge before our lawn and garden
