Dandelions!

Hi

I recently bought a house with a big garden and we have hundreds of dandelions on our lawn and surrounding area. Having done some research, it seems I should have pulled them out or killed them before they seeded but it seems its too late as many have seeded now.

I'm wanting a new turf to be put down soon, what should I do to make sure they don't grow again once the new lawn is down? Should I pull out all the roots, apply weed killer or just replace as much soil as possible?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks

I don't think you can do anything much about the seeds that have been released but not yet germinated, but do dig out the roots because burying them with fresh soil won't stop them. They'll be deeper than the old grass roots so stripping the old turf won't remove them. Any bit left behind will eventually grow into a new plant.
