Orchid rescue

Hi all

Hope you're all well.

Just wondering if I've accidentally killed my orchid.

Think I overwatered it as there were slimey roots, which I have now trimmed off.  Have reported it into dry potting mix.

Here's some pix:

Any thoughts?

Thanks so much

Phalaenopsis orchids have ariel roots that hang out of the pot. They may look unslightly but the plant needs them. They take in moisture from the air and shouldn't be cut off. They need good humidity and if you can stand the pot on a gravel tray that you have some water in. When you water, with rain water if you can, allow the water to drain through and don't let them sit in water. This will rot the roots.

Thanks for responding, yes the rotting bits I cut off.  I'm just hoping that I haven't done too.much damage.
