Alstroemeria - no sign of life

Hi all,

Have a few of these in pots and in the ground. They came back fine last year and had shoots at this stage but not signs of life at all yet. It's pretty annoying because was planning on dividing them this year. One of the varieties was Indian summer. I lifted one out of a pot and seems to have plenty of roots, so it seems a bit strange.

Would it be possible that they still might grow in May? I have dahlias that i leave in the ground and event they have shoots a few inches high at this stage.

Thanks all

Mine are only just starting to appear, all mine are in the ground. A lot of things seem very slow this year.

Thanks, maybe there is still hope. I'll give it a few more weeks and if nothing appears, I'll be planting the ones it pots in the ground and they can do what they like after that. I didn't have them protected in a greenhouse or anything over winter so, they could just be dead.

My Indian Summer is just starting to show its head in the pot.

I think they are only hardy down to -5 (according to the label I kept from mine). It may be dead if it was chilly where you were last winter.

The roots are quite horrific-looking, I thought when I dug my dead one up last year- has put me off anymore lol.
