Been 3 years at least since I gave some TLC to the tiny bamboo I planted 14 years ago. Nothing beats sitting near it on a windy day listening to the leaves swooping and swaying with every breath of the wind...beautiful 😍

@M33R4 You have made a great job. Must have taken a while to do. Always a big improvement and creates a lovely focal point.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

I love bamboo too - that's gorgeous! I bought a scraggy little fargesia for a fiver from a car boot about 17 years ago, and have 3 huge plants now - soon to be 5 as the potted one needs a break. 😄

@M33R4 It looks lovely in both photos but after the thinning, the patterned and structure on it really sing! Does it still swish well in the breeze? I agree, a lovely sound that they make. Reminds me of willow (weeping) which I love but cannot grow here.
Sorry to witness the demise of the forum. 😥😥😥😡😡😡I am Spartacus

A fine example of a well managed bamboo @M33R4!  Many people are scared of bamboos but they can be a real asset to a garden if the right variety is chosen and looked after well.
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

I agree Plantminded. I was wary too hence I put in middle of garden inside a contained environment. Occasionally I see some runner roots on the lawn but I nip those off quickly. As it got so tall and bushy, I tied rope around its diameter in 2 places along its height for a few years but at the detriment of not seeing those lovely brownish skins along the canes - since the thinning out they have popped beautifully!

What variety's do you recommend as I would like to plant some in the near future.

I believe the one in my post (pictures) is Pseudosasa japonica - arrow bamboo.

My dad gave it to me when it was 6 inches tall.
