Campsis Radicans

Last year I planted a Campsis Radicans in my garden. I am just wondering if anyone has one in their gardens and at what stage it currently is at. Mine has 4 very small buds on a stick and is still green when scratched…but has been this way for weeks! Hoping it will take off soon as has a whole trellis to cover!

They are later to get going in the spring than some other climbers.  I wouldn’t worry yet.  😊

@amy_hamilton hamiltonThe roots of Campsis can be invasive and impossible to dig up. Just to let you know.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
  • Thanks @GardenerSuze, I had read that. This is a dwarf variety (Summer Jazz) so hopefully won’t become too much of a monster 🤞🏼

@B3 Exactly! I was given the task of digging one up years ago impossible. I repeated the task over three years. Even then it had started to reshoot. Don't know what happened after that as client sadly passed away. Property was sold it was very close to the house.
Another client grew it on a wall where it was stunning a glorious orange.
The garden was about an acre and the owner had planted it far away from the house it was left to get on with it which is the way to grow it.
