Centipede

I've just seen a centipede about an inch long. It had a round , bright, shiny scarlet head. The body might have been black/ brown and yellow but tbh I was transfixed by the head. It was as if it was balancing a beach ball.
Anything on Google seems to be Asian or Texas. Do we have any native centipedes that match the description?
In London. Keen but lazy.

I've never seen any but the usual - could it have been an abnormality?

Maybe it had a red coloured tick or a mite latched onto its head?

Maybe, but it didn't seem liked that. It shot away for cover both times I disturbed it.

  • It's clearly a combination of wet weather and 'fast fashion' - a lot of centipedes are wearing red rainhats this season...
