Kniphofia - should I give up?

This yeah many of my plants haven't survived the winter 😢 I'm just taking them out of their pots one by one. This Kniphofia doesn't seem mushy inside and I'm wondering is there hope? Or should I just bin it? Thanks

@Ryan180680 In cold winters advice used to be tie the leaves to protect the central crown. Kniphofia's hate it wet. I wouldn't bin it plant it in the garden and if it does happen to survive don't put it back in a pot.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

@Ryan180680 Do you know which Kniphofia you have ( had ) ?  I find the "basic" ones are pretty well indestructible tho mine have always been planted in the ground.
I did lose one a few years ago - it was a dwarf one with fully yellow flower spikes but I can't recall the name . Possibly some of the named cultivars are less hardy ?  This last 12 months haven't been kind to a number of plants which have previously thrived and, as always. a lot depends on your location/site.
Yours doesn't look too clever but if you have somewhere to put it for now, I'd do as @GardenerSuze suggests and see if it shows any signs of life.  It's worth a few weeks wait rather than dumping it straight away.  Hope it revives  :)
  • This was mine a week ago. It’s now sprung new growth. Don’t give up on it. The root system looks very strong. A lot of these had a hard time this year as it was so wet.

The named varieties are less tough then the bog standard ones, as @philippasmith2 says.
If the top's mushy like that, I wouldn't be expecting a recovery @Ryan180680. Wet cold, then freezing again... no use.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
