Stump grinding

I have cut down several shrubs in the garden (dead, wrong place, unsuitable etc) but am left with stumps that are not possible to dig out.
Some are only an inch or so across up to about five inches
Would a stump grinder work for small stumps (box, rosemary, lilac etc)?
I would have to get an someone in to do it but want to see it is possible first!

I find that my mini mattock and long handled lopper works very well for getting small stumps out of confined spaces if you've got the energy for it. Kneeling down makes it easier for me.
Will just have to let things grow round the stumps and let them disappear by themselves!
