If it is,is it the type you can grow up a shady fence?

    I'd say yes ..they have quite a distinctive smell if you touch the leaves ..

    Not sure I would want to touch it can irritate skin.
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

    I'll dig it up ( with gloves) and put it against the fence to see what happens. They're no longer cheap to buy. I remember there was a purple solanum effort that has self seeded a foot or so away. Maybe it's moved.

    @B3 I think it is well worth keeping. I think they have always been expensive to buy.
