Palm affected by frost - help

I have a palm which has not enjoyed the winter and shows no sign of bouncing back. I have read about needing to cut the crown down and remove all the dead leaves. This seems drastic so wanted to ask if anyone has dealt with similar.

Mine looked as bad a few years ago and I did just that - cut about 1 foot off from the top and removed any lower leaves that were left. It bounced back the following year and rewarded me with further new shoots!
I wish I could garden all year round!

I've got similar plants in my garden and they look the same this year. I've had them for over 23 years since I moved here and they were about 10 when we moved in. I've had to cut them back a few times and each time I've successfully had new growth from the base. The older stems becoming soggy and pretty rotten with a foul smell.  I'm waiting for some warmer, drier weather before I can mine back again. Hopefully in a few year's they will look the part

There's been loads and loads of threads about them this year. Wet, mild, then freezing is what's done for them. There was a thread earlier today.
Whether it comes back or not is down to your location and a large amount of  luck.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
