I came across this article that has reviewed the most popular plant ID apps and which give the best results.
It's free to read for non-subscribers

Of course the best 'app' of all is this forum :)

Thank you for the link! I went into it thinking "please let Pl@ntNet be one of their top ones" as I'm a bit evangelical about it when I'm asked to recommend plant ID apps.
I've been using it for a few years, and it has always been excellent. Yes, there are times when it will fail to identify something, but it is always pretty decent at identifying the broad type of plant at least, which is often all I want to know. I love how it shows the % match, and shows various similar plants as well. Definitely one of the most used non-core apps on my phone.
  • Maybe I’ve been lucky but PictureThis has never let me down.  I don’t know how the others work but PictureThis gives several photos of the plant so you’re able to check it’s really the one.  Loads of useful information too.

I don’t know if you can still download the free version … I say free but you only get a few goes in a day… but it’s well worth downloading 🔎🍀
When there's always biscuits in the tin, where's the fun in biscuits ?
