Anyone know what these red things are?

in The potting shed
Hi, i just found these red balls in two places in my garden, should i be worried? I’ve googled but think they’re too big to be insect eggs and they don’t look like the fungi thing so I’m stumped. They look like the plant feed that comes in balls but they’re not that.
i did try to squish one ball and it was just soft yellow mush inside.
 Any advice much appreciated!

    Now i’m questioning myself if it is plant feed as I did place it around a nearby shrub last spring but surely it would have degraded by now. Also I don’t remember putting THAT much

    Looks like plant food to me too.  :)

    They don't always fully break down if the conditions aren't right for them. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
