It will rot your clothes, keep children and pets away. Sadly what is living in the lawn has no choice . May I suggest don't breath it in or even better don't use it. Accept your gardens for what they are, trying to control nature in this way damages your garden and it's ecology. Perhaps a conversation should be had with children, instead of being told to 'keep off the lawn' an explaination of what you are doing to their future may be more appropriate. For some kicking a football would be what they will miss the most. However all school children are taught about our ecology.. They are more than capable of explaining what they have learnt to adults. Adults need to listen
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
I checked on my pack of Westland sulphate of iron.
It gave quantities as handfuls (= 35g). It also said use gloves. But chemicals can get inside gloves. It gave quantities for pot plants and outside plants, but rather vague.
It gave "benefits" by just listing a few plants, and mentioning pH. No specific benefits.
It said "keep away from children". That double entendre rather tickles my sense of humour.
location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand. "Have nothing in your garden that you don't know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."
Hi, Currently treating my lawn after years of neglect and starting to rid of the moss. It's approx 196m2. I have a 20L sprayer and the iron sulphate I have says to use 3g/L/m2 therefore I'm going to need the best part of 10 spray loads.
I've done one pass already and it's taken almost 45mins to do 20m2. Is it possible to ramp up the iron dosage so I dont have to do as many spray loads and then water in with sprinklers?
The reason I ask is it's going to take many hours and it kills my back after a while plus the instructions say you can actually apply the granuals direct but I dubious about getting an even coverage thag way so would prefer the spray on method.
Change you Nozzle is the first thing to do its way to low for drench spraying.
This is why they make so many different nozzles, it all depends what you are spraying to what is needed as output. in farming or any other calibrations it's done on liters per hectare. some for foliage spraying and some as a drench if you want to hit the soil.
