Best fertiliser for Lollo Rosso

Hi, can anyone recommend a successful tried and tested fertiliser for Lollo Rosso, they’re kept outdoors in pots in general purpose compost.

Thank you

If they're in poorer soil, and commercial compost should have enough nutrition for the season,  you could use something like seaweed - you want foliage not flower on them.

I grow most of mine in containers and have never fed them if they're in decent compost. This year they may get a little as I'm using old compost or soil with grit added, so there's limited nutrition :)

I've used Chempak Nitrogen fertilizer for lettuce I grew in troughs - I was very impressed with the results.

I've got comfrey growing now, so I may use that, although it promotes flowering too, so might be counter productive @Pete.8 !
Trying to cut down on buying extra feed for plants, apart from the tomato food, and some slow release stuff, for the heavy flowerers.

  • I don't think I've ever used fertilizer for lettuce

(I guess if I did I'd be looking for something high in nitrogen -manure or diluted household liquid fertilizer)
