Cheeky cow @Obelixx. Wonder what she'd have said if you'd told her you weren't quite at the 'pick your own' stage - but they're a fiver a kilo.

The previous lady was delightful @Plantminded - always kept everything tidy, and even asked if I minded her removing a conifer that was at the gate, even though it was on her property. The previous owner of this house had hacked it and ruined it. It was a shame she did take it out, but without correct trimming it would have got out of hand, and was already spoiled because of the person in this house. Wrong plant for the site.  A nice pisifera Boulevard, and much nicer than half the shrubs that are there!

I thought you were talking figuratively there, fairygirl.

Our lane should be called pisifera Boulevard as it seems fitting sometimes. 🤬
    I understand that problem @pansyface...

Are electric fences expensive and would they have the desired effect? Something worth training your wildlife camera on when you get bored with watching four legged pests.

You can get simple fence lines that run on a car battery @B3 so it wouldn't cost much to arrange a shocking surprise.

Maybe one of those shop signs - Smile!  You're on candid camera - would deter the miscreants.

I think you could find yourself in a lot of trouble with electric fencing unless it's totally on your own property....
There's a new paint being used/trialled - walls though. It apparently creates a 'splashback'. Brilliant  :D

  • Maybe I should amend my sticker to read 'No junk mail or cold callers please, but I'm always happy to chat about plants'. It's been great having a neighbour who likes to chat about plants and gardening over the fence. I'm glad we don't have one of those 2m high close boarded fences that seem to be the preferred option now.
Before moving away, my next door neighbour and I used to enjoy a sundowner glass of wine, in our respective front gardens, over the low wall which separated our gardens. We talked plants and gardening non stop. Exchanged plants, ideas, problems etc. I really miss that.
