Tortrix Moth caterpillar damage

ShepsSheps Posts: 2,236
Evening all...last year I planted 4 new Ceanothus.

But, they have been plagued by one of the species of Tortrix Moth caterpillars, the ones that stitch the leaves together with silk.

Just about every growing tip on all 4 plants have been eaten away and up to press there is no new growth.

So, is there anything that can be done to try and help reduce the damage.

It's a bit of a difficult one for me as I'm a bit of a moth fan...but saying that I'm a Ceanothus fan too.

Apparently there are pheromone traps that can be bought, these are supposed to reduce the numbers of males able to mate, thus reducing the number of caterpillars.
