    Flowering cherries are so pretty.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Flowering cherries are so short lived.

Admired by the Japanese for just this quality.

They can grow into ugly shapes, with worse roots.
location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand.

Lovely! I took a photo of mine the other day, but it came out too dark. Beautiful trees, I'm always excited at the prospect of having a few cherries left after the birds have scoffed them all.. 😄

Heavenly, @M33R4. I would love to plant a little cherry tree. In the meantime, I gaze and gaze at my neighbour's sea of blossom.

Mine are purely ornamental - no cherries

Not a flowering cherry but a morello cherry in our orchard. This year the flowers are spectacular and thankfully the pigeons and other birds don't like this cherry so we get all the fruit later in the year. It looks so lovely with pure white flowers.

This is another ornamental flowering cherry in my garden but the blooms when they first emerge are more pink, then turn pinky white after a few weeks:
