okra

Hi I sowed some okra this year. The plants are doing ok on a south facing windowsill. I noticed little clear round things on the leaves today. When I touch them they feel like jelly?
Thought it might be pest droppings but no pests on the leaves and they dont taste sweet like what scale insects waste. Is this likely a normal structure or process of the plant?
I've heard of guttation but dont think thats what this is. Hopefully its easy to see them on the photo.

  • Interesting. I bought a packet of okra seed today to give them a try. I cannot help with your query as I have never grown them before. I have the variety Clemson Spineless. Have you grown them before? Do you live in the UK? I have my fingers crossed for a hot summer and will grow them in the conservatory.  live in the UK in Cornwall.

Yes I'm in the UK London. I got mine from Chiltern seeds, red burgundy. I haven't grown Clemson spineless.

I figured out what was causing the clear jelly things on the okra. There were some mites which I have never seen before. Definitely not spider mites but I sprayed with systemic insecticide to clear them.
