ah, ok, I have geranium Rosanna, Rose Carpet, Verbena Boriensis, Salvia Caradonna and C. Overdam ornamental grass. I think the Verbena Boriensis would not reseed (not a huge problem for me) and the Geranium might not spread. The others I think only have that one point where the roots are so shouldnt be as much of a problem. hmmmm.

@Ivy2I worked in a garden where there was alot of lawn. The guy who cut it let the grass box fill to overflowing and bits went everwhere, including the borders. Cutting lawn edges and leaving them can also encourage some grass to root.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

It's a devil of a job removing lawn grasses if they start growing amongst ornamental grasses. Virtually impossible to disentangle them! I would make sure the lawn grass is killed right down to the roots.

Thanks, about this membrane, obviously would have been easier before the plants were put in but hopefully can cut it accordingly. I read about cutting a cross, peeling it back and then folding it back right up to the plant. Some people seem to thing it can choke the plant in this way if it is covering every inch around the stem. Should I leave a few inches?
