Sucker / tree ID help

    Just to ask for help identifying this plant.
    i think it is a sucker, digging down there’s is a larger root.
    the same plant has popped up over the garden in a few places.

    Could be a prunus sucker. Have you a cherry or plum tree in the garden?
    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    The neighbours have a plum tree near by.
    I thought they might be from the plum but I haven’t seen any blossom form on these, so ruled it out. 
    Do you think it could be from the plum?

    Whatever it is,!it’s probably not mature enough to blossom. 

    I’m not totally convinced it’s a prunus, although I’m not ruling it out either. I’d like to see a side view so I can see the stem
    and how the leaves grow from it. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    As per @Busy-Lizzie looks similar to a prunus.  The original tree does not need to flower to produce suckers and the suckers can pop up some distance away from the parent.
